Escape Plan

A multiplayer, multiplatform collaboration with Meta

Virtual fire safety

  • AR + VR + MR
  • Experiential

Seeking to push the boundaries of multi-platform, multiplayer VR experiences, we worked with Meta to craft an immersive experience tackling fire safety, for the Federal Emergency Management Agency in the United States.

A multiplayer, cross-platform prevention experience

Dedicated to disaster response coordination, FEMA wanted to create an immersive escape room-like experience to highlight the importance of having a proper evacuation plan in the event of fire. Escape Plan is a VR, desktop and mobile experience. The goal? To navigate and evacuate a burning building as quickly and safely as possible.

Collaboration is the key to set up your escape plan

Escape Plan can be played solo or as a pair across mobile and VR: one user acting as a guide, and the other as an escapee. This multiplayer, multi-platform approach is unique and offers an exciting insight into the capabilities and future of WebXR, as it expands its offering with more community and team based experiences.

Once the escape has been completed, users are given a summary of their actions and offered insights into their decisions. Were the choices you made safe? What could you have done differently?

With its intuitive immersive design, the experience works both as a challenge and an educational tool. Considering over 25% of reported fires between 2015-2019 occurred in residential environments, Escape Plan is a learning experience of vital importance.
